Historic Home Project

When you step across the threshold of a home that has stood for over two centuries, you’re not merely entering a house; you’re immersing yourself in a living chronicle. The creak of ancient floorboards, the hand-carved banisters, and the whispers of generations past—all these elements weave together a rich tapestry that beckons us to honor and safeguard our architectural heritage.

Recently, Goedecke undertook a remarkable project in Goffstown, NH—a historic home that once sheltered fugitives on the Underground Railroad. Our clients envisioned a harmonious blend of past and present, where tradition met modern functionality.

We invite you to take a virtual tour of this kitchen and bathroom. Drag the scene around however you like with the mouse. Any arrow symbol will take you to another image. Any “I” symbol will give you more information about a particular feature. Click on the “X” at the top right corner to make the tour full screen.

The old kitchen was functional, but out of date with a wood-fired cook stove taking up an enormous amount of space. The old bathroom didn’t have a shower, just a very old tub, in front of a window which was very cold in the winter.

Our designer, Diane, collaborated closely with the homeowners. They craved a kitchen that honored the home’s legacy yet embraced contemporary living. The centerpiece? A kitchen island crowned with a live-edge slab of walnut—a nod to nature’s timeless beauty. Eddie from 1810 Design Barn meticulously crafted this stunning island top, marrying craftsmanship with culinary inspiration.

For any chef, a quality gas stove top is non-negotiable. Our clients insisted on a gas range, and we obliged. But a good hood was equally vital—to whisk away aromatic fumes and keep the home fresh. Our choice? A stainless steel and copper hood that seamlessly blended aesthetics and function.

Decora brand custom cabinets from Master Brands grace the kitchen. These high-quality cabinets offer ingenious storage solutions. And the pièce de résistance? A copper sink—an elegant nod to the past, where utility meets luxury.

In the bathroom, we orchestrated a symphony of light and space. A tile shower, with a wall of glass, invites natural sunlight. The result? An open, serene oasis where history met rejuvenation.
